Does anyone know of any private airfields that it's possible to hire out for days/weekends?

All the main circuits want mega-bucks, but I just want a long strip of concrete/tarmac with long run-offs, and no, it's not to practice hand-brake turns or doughnuts, although that's not a bad idea.

I would appreciate any comments, particularly for strips in the Midlands/Cheshire area.

Cheers in advance...

Elvington near York?

Still used as a runway but not all the time.

Did a trackday there....it cant be that expensive. We had to stop for lunch to let some planes land and again for about 15 mins in the afternoon but other than that its a good venue.

Just thought of another one.

Langar near Nottingham. Its definalty not a mainstream airfield used for trackdays but it depends what you are looking for.

Cheers for the info. I've heard of Elvington and that's a possible, but Langar must be small (can't find it in Flight Sim!) and actually sounds better. Any idea how I go about contacting them? I've tried internet search engines and all I get is some quad biking company and Nottingham and Sheffield Radio Control Models, hmmmm.

Dazren

Tried B'thorpe, said that they're fully booked and suggested I tag on to one of the existing track days. Unfortunately, that's not possible. Cheers anyway.

I found this:

British Parachute Schools
The Control Tower
Langar Airfield
Langar
Nottingham
NG13 9HY

Telephone and Fax:
+44 (0) 1949 860 878

They should be able to point you in the right direction. The site has a wide road round the edge (where i learnt to drive!) which is smooth. It provides access to a few warehouses. There are a few bits of really wide tarmac and of course the runway (one or two, not sure).
If you dont mind me asking...what are you wanting to do? I'm not sure it provides enough room to set out a "track" you see.

Tern Hill on the A41 heading southeast out of Chester towards M56. Fly helicopters from there and poss gliders too i think but only occasionally. Have occasionally seen cars spinning about there. Used to be flight training yonks and yonks ago but nothing really there now. You could try them..?
