I want to take my car on the track but as it will be its first outing (and I need it to get to work in!) I dont want to subject it to 8 hours of abuse.
I really fancy a couple of hours (possibly an evening session).

Donnington would be my preferenc (its local).

What other (good) trackday companies are there? Bookatrack and Easytrack dont have anything currently in their calender that fits my requirements.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

i am deliberating whether to goto Donnington on 10 Oct. There will be a track day organised by www.lotusespritworld.co.uk and Heritage i think.

Would be going with a chap who races MGs and should be fun as i am a novice when it comes to trackdays so I'll prob be sensible and take some instruction. Donington is supposed to be quite a novice friendly track. It is an all day thing though and you`ll have to take a day off work. i am waiting for prices so will post again as soon as i find out.

Yeah, see getting time off work could be a problem, and I dont really want to do a full day yet, i'll drop them an email and see if I could do the morning/afternoon session only

First of all I don't think any organiser will let you abuse your car for 8 hours - the most you get is about 30 minutes per hour for 8 hours, so that has reduced your abuse to 4 hours. Some only offer one 20min session per hour and only for 7 hours so you are down to 2.5 hours abuse.

In the end you are not forced to do the full day, you can leave early if you wish - I usually do when my brake pads disintegrate or I have some other problem.

Well, i screwed a set of tyres in bookatracks 205, and I cant afford to do that to my car at the moment! Also i'm not convinced on the brakes yet
I just fancy a shorter session to suss out how the car behaves and holds up, the poor little thing has done 125k miles so I got to treat it with a bit of care............or so I intend too

Rob,

Why not do a half day in our Pug and a couple of sessions in your own car? We've got some availability in the coming months - for example Rockingham Say 18th Oct or Donny Park Sun 15th November.

Drop me a mail and we'll see if we can sort something out.

robp,

another good idea is to get together with a individual with exactly the same thoughts as yourself & then go halfs on the trackday & for example use one car for the morning sessions & another for the afternoon or alternate between the sessions & you can passenger with each other to learn the track & get tips from each other.

Some track organisers will charge you a small admin fee extra but its a good idea.

I'd be interested in doing just that on some occasions, so I could well be that interested individual

Robp, sorry, I broke your car last night! It wasn't my fault, honest!

Those hoses must be made out of chocolate instead of rubber.

Will get it fixed asap

Ps. am emailing you regarding the trackday

Bloody hell, what're you doing here, you're everywhere, there is no escape.

Bügger off back to the dark side will you, or are you spying for Jules to see what a 'proper' forum looks like!

* BTW, see you tomorrow!
