news travel fast doesn't it
Won't be at donny, delivery will be next weekend I hope, still waiting for a definitive day - pending front end stonechip respray.... First PH outing will probably be VMax at Bruntingthorpe...

I'll be in the BaT caterham, or BaT elise. If it's the elise I'd advise caution around me - see my profile pic

Still since then I've been fortunate to get some good instruction, not to mention some invaluable rwd hoonery at the last PH caterham sliding day, so I plan to stay on the black stuff this time

What you driving on wednesday?

ChopperEllis and I will be there too. Factory test drive ..

But i'd also like to take the M5 on track - anyone know if I can sneak it on at some point? Unfortunately it looks like it's full on the BaT site

I'm local so i might also pop down, and "sneeking on" the track will be most appealing!

Factory test drive of what?

No, you won't be allowed to take the M5 out. However, I'll happily give you a passenger ride in it if you like, since I'm already booked in!

We're driving the Westie XTR2. Should be fun! Actually, change of plan - we're coming up in Choppers 996 turbo. See you there! How can we spot you?

quality day out it was too. Sorry I missed you guys in the xtr2 but it looked like you were having fun (Even if you did seem to have a 'moment' in the morning

I'd never done Donnington before and it is a truly fantastic circuit. by the afternoon my brilliant (if slightly mad!) instructor Charlie had me flying round the track. I can honestly say that this side of the bedroom door I've never had so much fun

Shout to johno - griff looking superb in the sunshine, and to Andrew in the radical - god those things are fast!

It wasn't us honest! There were four of us in the morning (we left at lunchtime) - one of the other two guys span it at the blind right-hander round the back (sorry, can't remember the name). Lots of gravel in the car, and a peppered radiator, but otherwise ok. Do you know who dumped oil right round the track afterwards? Thought it might have been the Jag, but found out afterwards he was too noisy. If that was the case, how come that demonic black Radical-looking thing was still going round? It made my ears bleed!

XTR2 was superb. Our first time in a proper track car with sequential shift. Trying to remember what gear I was in, and how many to knock it down for some corners was a real challenge. And apologies for anyone I held up - learning the track, learning the gearchange, trying not to over-rev it, and getting out of the way of everyone was very difficult. I'm sure we'll get used to it - we're picking the kit up next Friday hopefully!

looked like you lot were going great guns in the xtr.... Anyway glad to know I wasn't the only one who felt like a moving chicane at times!!!

Oil on the track (According to rumour) came from a Westie (a megabusa I think) that popped a piston. Shame it held us all up, but it in no way spoiled the day.

Saw the black 911TT parked up behind where the xtr2 was - was that the car you came down in in the end - if so very nice!

The black demonic Radical looking thing was probably my Zeus, and as it was a "noisy" day I thought I'd de-stuff the silencer and unleash err, about 2 more BHP! If you wanted noise you should have heard the 1967 Honda GP bikes doing a few laps at lunchtime. 297 cc, six cylinders, each with their own megaphone exhaust pipe, revving to 19,000 RPM. Jewel like, exquisite beasties. Allegedly worth 250K UK pounds EACH, and their were 2 identical ones... Worth going just to hear them, absolutely awesome things.
