Caterham Tuning
Discussion
Please don't think that i'm part of the "Lax Pooer" brigade but I had a thought last night when thinking about a track day car for the fleet...
What if you buy a Caterham, then install a Nitrous Oxide system? The Rover K-series engine is pretty strong and the low weight would mean that only a small amount of NOS would be needed, meaning little stress on the engine.
The cornering capabilities is not in question, just thought it might be a little fun on the straights
Thanks for any thoughts

The K series engine has a reputation of being fairly fragile when tuned. Head gaskets are one weak point so it is not an ideal candidate for NOS.
But with the power to weight ratio already offered by that genre of car I am not sure that you need NOS. Its fairly easy to achieve 200 bhp from a 2 litre Zetec or Vx engine and as most sevens weigh in at around 500 – 600 kg, that’s already a healthy power to weight ratio. How much more fun on the straight do you need?
