Still dead keen to get there.. but just as I was about to book somebody mentioned that a decatted Cerbera could have problems with noise limits. According to the website, the limit is 95dB but it doesn't say at what revs or what distance. Does anybody know how they check at the 'ring? If its done the same way as a standard UK circuit test, I've got no chance. Boo hoo.

One of the lads in my office has just been there in his Escort Cossie.

Apparently they were very slack... no noise checks (his car is modified - 330bhp and a mongoose exhaust), in fact they didn't even ask for a driving licence.

In my experience (been there 18 times) they don't noise test many cars - you see loads of road legal race and trackday cars going on, so there's a small % you'll get pulled. They mainly concentrate on bikes. Some days they're out all day at the gates with noise meters, most days there is no one there at all doing noise tests. Best advice is not to make yourself a target ie if you've got a loud car, don't rev it hard in the car park, be gentle on the throttle as you go through the barriers at the entrance to the track, and don't floor it until you're out of range of the marshalls - after the bridge which is about 200 metres after the start would be a safe point to introduce pedal to metal.

Thanks guys - excellent advice and, as you rightly say, noise was not an issue at all. As for the 'ring, me, what a blast! That place should be compulsory for any fuel blooded car/bike obsessive. Scary and exhillarating, absolutely the best track in the world. Ever. (like I have any authority to say this!)

sadly the Cerbera is still in Belgium.. but thats another story.

Hey Beej,

Was it your dark blue Cerby that was there over the weekend of 16/17th? If so I saw your car in the car park a few times and iirc once going through Plantzgarten when I was watching from there - I was there in a rental Opel Speedster (silver one with stickers with the garage's name in big letters on the doors and bonnet) and with a couple of mates in an S2000 and an S2 Elise.

cheers

Dave
