Instructor wanted
Discussion
I've been driving on track in 911's for a few years, doing 1500-2000 miles on track per year, and sense I have reached a plateau in my ability. I've had loads of tuition at different tracks, but most of it is just for 15-20 minutes, and has varied from very useful to downright cr*p.
I am looking for a recommendation of an instructor who will help improve my track driving, preferably someone who knows 911's, but first and foremost someone who is a good teacher. I'm not looking for "know alls" who want to impress me with their own abilities, and neither do I want someone who takes me back to basics - whilst I'm looking to improve, I am not a novice.
The idea would be to hire the instructor for a day at an open pitlane track day in the south of England. Can anyone help with recommendations?
Regards
Zubin

I had an excellent day at Mallory in 2000 with a John Bussell, who IIRC raced porsches and classic Astons for a living. Excellent instructor.
I tried to get him for a day another time but he was busy, but he was certainly interested. if you do a web search his name seems to come up associated with 911s.
His mobile number was 0402 561 911, so i assume that you change the 4 into 77 or something.

Zubin,
Sorry to use this thread, but I wanted to know if your tyres are still for sale? I have mailed you separately twice and don't know if you are getting them. If they are I am happy to pay your stated price and will collect as soon as you want me to. I am in the london area so it won't be a problem.
You can call me 07786 524572

I had a very useful day in my Elise at Silverstone with Jonny Mowlem and Drivedata. They set up full telemetry in the car and were able to analyse my driving in quite some detail. Jonny did a few quick laps to set a baseline and a comparison with his telemetry was most enlightening! He is a very experienced Porsche factory racer and having been out for a few laps with him driving a GT3 I can vouch for his smoothness and speed. He's a very good instructor too. I found that the telemetry really added a lot to the day - much better than tuition alone.
You wouldn't just buy a hang glider and throw yourself off the nearest cliff without some basic instruction! The same applies to performance car driving.
Given some basic skills (and driving is a skill) you will become smoother, faster and above all safer, making your time behind the wheel more enjoyable.
