A group of us have privately hired Croix-en-Ternois for a test day on Tuesday 29th July and may have room for a couple more cars. We intend to divide the cost of the circuit hire between the cars. Ten cars have already secured a place with a deposit and we have set a maximum of 14 cars. If 14 attend the cost divides to around £120 each, if 12 attend it divides to around £137 each.

The circuit is ours for the whole day and with the number of cars participating there will be no queues. You will get as much track time as you can manage.

Croix is a great little circuit. It’s about 1.2 miles and as it is very twisty it is particularly suited to 7’s. The F1 teams used to practise here prior to Monaco. It gets a mention on Circuit Driver;

They also have their own website with more info and a couple of photos;

www.circuitdecroix.com/

You can see a complete lap from the drivers seat here (base of page, 10 mb download);

It’s only about an hour from Calais but most of us are going over the night before and camping at the circuit. We are taking support vehicles with tools and spares we can transport spares / equipment / tyres / camping equipment to the circuit for anyone wishes to drive down rather than take a trailer and is short on space

Ferry crossings are cheap at the moment as P&O have two new boats and are doing deals to get people on them.

Timing is allowed and we will have a beacon set up on the pit wall. Noise is 105 db according to the small print but they do not actually test the cars. Open wheeled single seaters are allowed.

I have to stress that this is an informal hiring of the circuit for our personal use and each driver participates at his or her own risk. There is no track day organiser bearing responsibility for the arrangements.

mark - we did a club day there last friday and hired circuit exclusively - great little place - especially as u say for caterfields and in our case elises... 45 mins from tunnel...

what type of cars do you have going and r u race testing or just for fun?? i'm seriously interested in getting there again..

oh.. suggest u take 1 support vehicle, tow rope and a couple of guys who can run the pit for you - their marshals will not leave their hut all day - and recovery vehicle is a fork lift truck..

some pics here..

We will have several support vehicles going but the designated tow vehicle will be my 110 Landy. I have lots of ropes and towing strops so we should be ok. It’s also got a winch on it for anyone who explores the depths of the run off areas so they will not need to get the forklift out!

Basically we are just going for fun and the cars booked so far include a couple of 7’s, 911’s, 944's, a Mini Cooper (a proper one!) a rally Pug 205 and a Formula Atlantic.

It is a great little circuit and I have been there before on public days but this is the first time I have hired it privately. I think we are probably being a little selfish with our track time by limiting the numbers to 14 cars but the cost is so reasonable that I think it makes sense. How many went on your day?

I was interested to see in your photos that you went on to Folembray. Although I have not yet spoken to them we would like to take the group there at a later date. Which circuit did you prefer?

If you want to join us, let me know.

Croix was great and we had a really excellent day. We had thirteen cars in the end and I am pleased to say the weather prediction of light showers was wrong; it was clear and sunny and we had a dry track the whole day.

We went over the night before and camped at the circuit. The facilities were great with loos / hot showers and the paddock had power.

With so few cars and so much time I often had the circuit to myself and there were seldom more than four or five cars out at any one time. At the end of the day we all agreed that we could have had more cars without it affecting our track time.

The cost worked out as £120 per car and no additional charge for extra drivers. That particularly suited three of our cars as they were co-owned and effectively the two drivers paid £60 each. Excellent value when you are just sharing the circuit with twelve other cars for the whole day!

I am pleased to report the day was incident free and everyone considered it a great success. So much so that we have already booked our next day!

We have booked the track for Wednesday 10th September and intend to take 18 cars. Assuming a similar exchange rate as last time it should work out at about £90 per car.

I have places available if anyone is interested.
