I've never done a trackday before is Goodwood a good place to start?

Also can someone reccomend an insurance co that provides cover just for track in an elise?

Its an extremely fast circuit with limited run off. Until you know the corners it can be very tricky to judge how much speed can be carried through them. Not really somewhere I would recommend for your first track day, unless you are happy pottering around well below the car's limits.
