Discussion
I have a Caterham Seven and have recently fitted an exhaust which has no silencing and is virtually a pipe coming straight out of the manifold with no cat to go through. Although it is good fun, it is obviously very loud. I am considering doing some trackdays in it but I know many tracks enforce noise restrictions and I am sure my car will exceed them. I am therefore asking if anyone knows of any device e.g. a temporary muffler that I could stuff up the tail pipe, to quieten it down temporarily. Also I’m sure my neighbours will be getting quite annoyed soon!
Thanks for any help in advance,
Geoff

Refit the standard exhaust? Very likely the easiest and most likely thing to help, unless it's bike engined in which case you're probably still in trouble. You will need a lot of add on silencers to get down to any reasonable limit.
Alternatively, only book days without noise limits, but they're getting all the more rare.

You have three options:
1) Fit a standard exhaust & silencer
2) Fit a SuperTrap baffle
3) Fit an exhaust where you can remove/refit the silencer when appropriate.
I know one guy who has a silencer cartridge where he simply unclips the side of his exhaust pipe (level with the driver's seat) and drops it in if it's too loud!
