Can anybody recommend a good program to log track data on a pocket PC using a GPS receiver? I want functionality similar to the drift box http://www.k300performance.co.uk/driftbox.htm or any racing data logger, but it must be possible to do it without shelling out £300+ for a specially designed system.

I've found the following utilities that use GPS data but I can't see any that would suit this specific application.

Any ideas?

If you just want lap / sector times etc then perhaps VirtualCup:

http://www.virtualcup.fr

Its licensed on annual subscription, but not that expensive at €15 to €25.

If you want drift data then the driftbox is about the cheapest thing you're going to find that has GPS + g sensors etc.

Thanks. Virtual Cup looks to be exactly what I want. I don't need the drift functionality.

That looks like a great bit of software, but presumably most trackday organisers would take great exception to it's use as it will breach the 'no-timing' clause in their insuarance.
Fine for official testing days tho; I guess.

I've read on other forums that as long as you don't take a laptop to view the times, and are discreet in placing the GPS and PDA, you should be alright. The Driftbox isn't suitable, because it's so obvious that you're using it. Shame really, because I think it's a great system.

Not really. We plumb a Performance Box (like a Driftbox but without the inertia gubbins) into our track car and just have the optional external antenna on display. Very small and discreet and can be in the car if you don't have an athermic windscreen.

I use a performancebox all the time, including yesterday and have yet to have a problem. Always ask the organisers if I can use it and all have said it's been fine. Worst case is having to put tape over the display so you can't read it, which is fine anyhow.

There's this too I suppose.
