So I've just had a spanking new zorst fitted which is probably louder than the old one and before I book up for the next track day I thought it might be a good idea to check it's noise level. I've purchased a noise meter and I've searched for where to hold it and at what revs etc.. but can't find anything on the subject.
confused Any help much appreciated.

When mine have been checked, it is from one metre, at 45 degrees to each exhaust pipe.

I had to buy silencers frown

Hope you pass

Half a metre seems to be what the BaT site suggests, looking at the circuits like Goodwood, Coombe and Rockingham who all have static limits

Thanks chaps - that makes sense.
I presume at 3500ish revs.

Generally 3/4 max rpm (or max power rpm) so more like 4500 on your average tintop engine

2DOGS.

Where did you get your meter? I need to get a car tested for exactly the same reason.

Thanks.

One of the suppliers I use in work do them, £21.10 plus a couple of quid P&P.
You'd need an account with them and minimum order is £250 so if you wanted one, mail me and I'll ad one to my next order. I order weekly so no prob in getting one.

2DOGS,

Great, I've sent you a private mail. Good luck with getting yours within the limit. As people have mentioned the unit should be held at 45deg and anywhere between 50-100cm away.

With my race car I actually found the noise reduced when it got into a higher rev range. Experiment with holding it at different levels to find the quitest level.
