What time round the ring would be respectable for a rookie to the circuit in a road standard Audi RS4?

9 to 11 minute lap at a guess. My 1st few laps were in a standard 1.4 Civic, I was driving carefully, I had a weeks holiday and had to drive up to Scotland afterwards. I am a racing driver and I did it in 13 mins approx, then 12 mins in a 1 litre VW Fox.

it was just a query because a client told me he visited the ring for the first time and did 11 mins first (sighting) lap 10 1/2 mins , second lap and third lap 9 mins 45 secs..

oddly I noticed the Nearly Naked had an identical post count as me but its taken me 5 years and him 1 month to get there!!

Its my AD HD, self diagnosed, but the doc in the family agreed. This website keeps me amused for hours and its mainly about cars so I am in my element.

9:45 in a stock RS-4 for a newbie is well within the realms of possibility. There's a known BTG time of 8:16 to put it into perspective.

Sounds reasonable.

Bit of advive, ignore the time, concentrate on the driving, and watching the mirrors for the local loons to come blasting past. You will be losing time getting stuck behind motorbikes, buses and people who think they are going quickly but infact are a rolling chicane. Drive to your limits and just enjoy the pleasure of driving as quickly as you feel comfortable to without the fear of seeing a blue light looming in the rear view mirrors.

Thanks for the advice Benji genuinely welcome. In reality despite what I wrote I am going for the experience and most certainly not to break any records. If I time it at all then i will be happy with around 12 minutes.

You should be able to get a sub 10 minute lap after a few go's. But aim to come back in one piece. Be warned there are lot of people with golfs, 3 series bm's, etc which are on almost slick tyres, stripped out and roll caged that will pass you. Be careful over the crests as some lead to very sharp corners, and treat it as a country lane, where you only drive what you can see.

Have fun

again very welcome advice. I took it before I saw it and had a great time. Didn't run on sunday due to the rain and a sense of self preservation. The times were about mid ten to mid eleven minutes we think. People were flashing by in Skodas. I don't think it was their first time though smile
I've definitely got the bug and really hope I can fit some more laps in this year but its looking doubtful.

If it was a red standard Fabia, that will have been Steve. He knows his way round
