No oil shim, just the usual for Quarry corner, getting on the power too early, losing the back under braking over the brow of the hill, trying to be a drift-king and over-correction.

F*ucking hell! eekyikes I hope these driving retards aren't at the knockhill trackday I'm doing this friday... What a stupid combination of farcical corner entry speeds, power understeer and spasticated drift attempts.

its actually a very good, fast, flowing circuit.

Quarry is the only real headache, as you go uphill after the long straight(ish), and the crest is on a slight kink to the left immediatly into the braking zone for the tight right hander.

The problem is, people dont lift before the crest to wash speed off, so are braking hard while the car is unsettled, or worse, carry too much speed around the bend.

yes Don't be afraid to give it a go - its a great track. Go out with an instructor for a few laps first if you're worried.

Ouch! That's put me off buying a Westfield for life, it just dis-intergrated! Imagine if he'd not got out of the car, he'd be dead for sure.

I watched some racing at Oulton recently that had a mix of saloons and Westfields and did think at the time I wouldn't want to be hit by one of the saloons, althought they did have proper roll cages etc I suppose!

Also did a track day this year at Oulton which was very well run, I too wouldn't want to take my pride and joy to Castle Coombe - although I'm tempted to go and spectate!

Its the brow (Avon Rise) that is the problem, it's very bumpy, I used to dab the brakes just before going over the brow, aceelerate slightly over he brow then go hard on the brakes staying on the left of the circuit (where it is less bumpy, there is a big bump on the right hand side of the cicuit here - as Tim Harvey showed me in a Schnitzer modded BMW, at his entry speed my helmet hit the roof of the car!!) then off the brakes and turn in smoothly.

I have (though) come off at Quarry, got on the exit curbs (grass) with too much power, car fish-tailed sun round and hit the armco 3 advertising hoardings down the straight, speed of mage probably less than 5mph, just punched a small hole on the fibre-glass. My only 'impact' off in 70+ circit days

Personally I used to find Tower a trickier corner, as it can be a one or two apex corner and is all off-camber

To quote the God, Gene Hunt... or maybe I shouldn't... but there was a magnet factory involved in the quote

Tell me that wasn't all on the same day
