Should be going out to the ring for my first time in August. Was wondering if there's any cheap 'Formula 1' type hotels nearby? (say less than an hour away)

Also is it worth going mid week rather than at a weekend so that the track's quieter? How many laps ticket should I get when I get there?

There are loads of cheap guest houses and hotels in Nurburg itself. No need to stay an hour away.

Join the forum linked to www.northloop.co.uk and we will be able to help you out.

The track is usually quieter at weekends, but that's because it's open shorter hours, typically 17:15 - 19:30.
Regarding tickets, calculate with the assumption that you'll spend less than half your time actually lapping. You and your car will need to cool down after 2-3 laps in the dry; depending on what you're driving you will need to refuel every 5-15 laps (less for mega-tuned Skylines!).
4-8 laps is about right for a weekday evening session; over a full weekend 50+ isn't hard smile

I've stayed at the Ringhaus and Hotel Zurburg. Of the two, I'd recommend the Ringhaus. Also while you're there, make sure you get down to the Pistenklause for a steak - it's without doubt the best I've ever eaten.

Oh, and do a couple of laps too, it's fun. wink

Edited to add: prices will change depending on the time of year but the Zurburg at Easter was €75/night which I split with someone. I think the Ringhaus the year before in August was about €50/night although they'd had a price hike when we were looking for the Easter trip. Had they not been booked out already, I'd have paid the extra and stayed there.

The Ringhaus has garages under the hotel itself where they keep their track toys. They also very kindly did a free front/rear swap to keep my wear levels even one morning! Good info here ----> http://nurburgring.org.uk/where_to_stay.html

Ringhaus halfway down.

Motorsport Hotel is excellent value and only 5 min walk from Pistenklause restaurant.

Very friendly service and good food. Also stopped at the Dorint (Overlooking F1 circuit) Amazing but a little more expensive.

I've heard good things about the Dorint, too.

What dates are you booking in Aug? Decided on a Hotel yet, if so which one?

I'm just trying to arrange a small trip now for myself and Brother, 11th Aug - 14th Aug. Dover - Dunkerque route with 1 car.

But, haven't booked a Hotel yet as Ringhaus looks busy and not sure where else to go. Have mailed the motorsport hotel now, hope to here back soon.

Cheers.
