My first visit on Monday 16th July to Cadwell and now i know where it is i think i may as well travel up on the Sunday night and stay at a hotel.

Anybody got any good first hand recommendations?

Ideally to the south to avoid travelling past Cadwell and back again. Maybe somewhere where there are likely to be a few track goers in the bar on the Sunday night

We always stay at Keddington House in Louth, plenty of room for at least 5 cars / trailers and the couple that run it there do quite a bit of trade related to Cadwell (trackdayers, racers etc), so are quite flexible with breakfast times etc to fit in with what time you need to get away. A few of us will be there tomorrow night again in preparation for Thursday's trackday.

Its only a B&B though so no bar on-site, but there's a pub just round the corner which served decent food the last few times we've been.

Can't help you with recommendations as it's my first visit on the same day too. We've gambled on a pub about 20 mins south of the circuit. The area seems somewhat lacking in accomodation options!

Stayed here before, lots of room, just out of Louth and always felt safe leaving cars in the huge car park - no problem for car and trailer. Very nice spot 15 mins from the circuit.

Black Horse at Donington-on-Bain.
Proper country pub, proper beer, proper food. Trailer parking if you need it. 5 mins from the circuit. About £25, but only eight rooms. Very friendly and helpful (early breakfast? Of course, Sir), and quiet for a good night's sleep
Far, far nicer than Louth. Racers who know book it a year in advance.

If you are having trouble finding a room in Louth due to recent flooding, there is always Horncastle, two hotels spring to mind, The Admirel Rodney and the Red Lion.

Louth was fine on Wednesday night when we were there, sandbags etc still out in most of the doors in the lower areas of town but no flooding to be seen.

do you know if there is a particular problem with the BH then?

and is it my picture or the unwanted car that will put them off?...............

I've never heard of any trouble at the Black Horse, and on VSCC weekends there are some very tasty cars there.

Shim, do make sure you print out a map of the backroads to Donington. From Horncastle, you hit a tight right hander, then plunge into the valley. The turning is near the old petrol station, just before you hot "Eau Rouge" and the climb up the other side. There is only a small sign, so it's easy to miss (and it's marked Donington, not Donington on Bain). Parking is hidden around the back. And remember that it's a country pub - before 7 o'clock there may not be anyone there to let you in. Phone if you're going to be early, or at a push knock on the kitchen door.
