Not good news guys - apparently Louth is a foot under water weeping

Just phoned the track and they are closed, but MSV reckon the bottom of the mountain was flooded. Obviously we'll need to see if it drains before Thursday, but if the rain keeps up then it'll be cancelled I'm sure.

Let me know if anyone has any updates

Urgh, thats not good news at all, planning to leave on Wednesday lunchtime to get up there and into the B&B so hope there is positive news before then!

Last time I was there a couple of years ago it p1ssed down and the bottom straight became flooded so we ended up using the club circuit. That circuit is pretty pants though IMHO as you do a hairpin right at the bottom of the mountain and then go straight back up Coppice but you don't get enough speed to make that corner challenging at all, so not sure Id be willing to pay full whack just to do that all day.

Weather forecast for the next three days in Louth is "showers" on all three days according to weather.co.uk, but being the optimist Id rather go with overcast Tuesday/Wednesday with showers on Thursday (typical) that the BBC weather and the Met Office are predicting, so there is hope!

I was there on saturday,it rained halfway thru the session and eventually they closed the track for about 25 mins cos there was standing water in a couple of places. It was a great day, what a fantastic circuit, and I enjoyed it better in the rain! I think thats because I didn't have to worry as much about cooking my brakes and tyres. That left hander at the bottom of the hill was certainly interesting.

Yes - good news I think

I called the site office on track, and the lady there said there was no flooding at the circuit itself. The track is actually higher than the town, and although the town was flooded, the circuit is ok.

She said there was an event on today that was still going ahead.

I have a mate who lives local to the track, and he's asked one of his employees to pop in and take a look on his way home, so I'll know for sure first thing in the morning - although initial signs are more positive than I first thought after seeing the pictures of Louth

Great thanks Mac smile

We're stopping in Louth wednesday night, hopefully the roads through Louth and onto Cadwell are clear, if he has any comments on local roads it'd be handy. I'll see what the AA/RAC say on their websites as well.

Cheers

Great day guys, and not a spot of rain smile. Some good cars out and we had some great 'tussles'. A v fast blue westie/locost type(locoblade?) We led you for a couple laps near the end then let you past and you quickly pulled away, and my mate reckoned he wasnt holding you uprolleyes
Real shame about the silver Elise, frown Saw it bounce heavily off the trackside cushions and must've done a fair bit of damage. Recovery truck took it away, hope the driver/passenger both ok.
Does anyone have a contact for the photo people, i meant to get a few shots but forgot at the end.
Thanks Dave.

Hi Dave

Yep that was me (in the blue Locost R1). In that last session I did wonder what was going on there for a bit! He was going along at a reasonable pace so I didnt mind for a lap or so, but I think it was nearly three laps in the end which did test my patience a little I must admit, I thought he may have taken the hint with me being glued to the bumper all that time combined with the odd flash of headlights, but alas no! He wasn't the worst though so don't worry about it too much, later in that same session I got stuck behind a white Mk1 Golf and a red 205 for about the same number of laps, but at about 2/3 the speed your friend was going so rather frustrating given how much clearer the track was late in the afternoon! smile

It was a cracking day though and far superceeded my expectations given the weather forecast etc, Ive got some video of the day which I'll get up on Youtube at some point, unfortunately the first three sessions I accidentally recorded in low res which is really poor quality verging on useless, and the recorder ran out of battery at some point through that last session so I didn't have much luck with it overall! frown

cheers

Chris

Jubal, as requested here's a Youtube link to a few of my sessions last Thursday, including a rare clear "lap" I got which, from timing off the video post event (I obviously don't time on the trackday itself) appears to be within a tenth of the lap record for RGB class B lap which my car would be eligible for!

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=E3D3FB4C34...

Admittedly the time isn't quite as impressive when you look at the less powerful but more competitive Class C Fireblade class, whose lap record is about 3s quicker on the current spec tyres (Yoko A048s as I use), but still not bad for a "book" Locost with live axle.

I'll be adding a few more tonight I expect as Ive got another few sessions to edit and upload.

cheers

Chris
