Has anyone done any tuition with either Don Palmer or Mark Hales. After nearly 17 year of occasional track driving I'm looking to progress to a higher level of car control and searching for suitable instruction. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Sagman.

I agree. Don Palmer makes you very reflective and the day I spent with him changed my driving as well as being great fun sliding the car around at Bruntingthorpe.

Don from my experience with him is very much about Car Control and not race driving directly. He comes from basics of how we, the car and tyres work and makes you think about it as you go thorugh various exercises down at Bruntingthorpe.

Found it very useful and informative.

If you want to get a good lap time and learn how to drive well on track, then come to me... I can do car control to an extent, but there are some better people out there, who have more expierance in that sort of thing.

But for track driving, I am the one you want. I have not heard of these two before?

Both of these guys are excellent and come with years of experience.

Mark was successfully campaigning in TVRs while Sean here was still in nappies.

Am I right in thinking that both Hales and Palmer have beards?

If this is the case then I would probably go for Edwards.

Raikkonen and Coulthard were at Bruntingthorpe a couple of weeks ago both getting tips from a UK driving coach. If they still think there's scope for improvement, there's room for the rest of us too.

Coulthard should have. It would make him look less like Kryten.

i recommend don plamer he was excellent and i learned a lot in the day i was at bruntingthorpe a few years ago. he also offers, or did then, more advanced tuition than the 'normal' car control days. something i have considered doing.

haha @ that pic!

Yes, but while I was in nappies, I was also karting, started a 2 years old smile

10 years of international racing under my belt and the FIA GT3 championship. I can take between 5 and 10 seconds off you in one day normally, depending on your experience.

Visit this thread for more info and peoples reviews of the days they have done http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=317...

Like I said, I don't really know these guys, so wont comment on them. But if you are looking for skid control ect there are people who specialise in it like Andy Walsh. But if you want to learn how to drive well round a lap and car control on track, then come to me.

bad_roo .... That is an uncanny likeness

I also had to chuckle at Seans post about not knowing who Don Palmer or Mark Hales were when, on my system at least, his post has a Circuit Driver ad on the right hand side with Marks name at the top. I wasn't surprised he didn't know them however, but quite surprised he knew of the skid control specialist Andy Walsh

Mark Hales is generally recognised as a leading authority on driving sevens although I'm sure he'll point out he's pretty good with other machinery as well ie. ex Tuscan champ and British GT driver.

He owns/writes for Circuit Driver magazine and has produced a couple of "How to drive (Oulton/Brands etc.)" DVD's.

Yeah, but... whichever way you look at it... you just can't get past the beard thing...

Sean's your man - if he ever pitches up with a beard (or sandals) he's so black flagged.
