i am now looking for another track car with great potential to try drifting too.

i am in a club who do it at a race track but its quite restrictive in size and the fence is very close if it goes wrong ( at my cost to repair )

i have also heard of "drift schools" but these are costly and awkward to use if its just a quick go when you have some time to spare.

so where can i practice?

does anyone know where there is sufficient land ( say a dis-used runway ) around the norfolk area thats cheap or free?

does anyone know a regular drifter in east anglia and where they practice?
if i think i like it, i might look into a tutor but i just want to have a go with less spectators?

Some Airfield day organisers do drift practice days too, the only thing to hit is a cone.

Javelin use Barkston Heath, think it's about £70 for the day.

I'd be really interested in this too. thumbup

Jamie if you do book any drift school days, I'd be happy to share costs/training whatever. I contemplated a day at Silverstone sometime.
Expensive when all I want, like you, is a bit of a playaround on a bit of tarmac!

There's a day coming up within the next month at Sculthorpe if you're interested? Think its £50-70 for the day.

cheers for that hannah.

but as you know, i have yet to buy a car for the job lol.

so the one next month is out.

it would be worth investigating locally for places like sculthorpe as there are sooo many disused airstrips in norfolk ( god bless WWII ) so we could find somewhere and come to an agreement with the "owner" ?

the october bruntingthorpe one sounds good though......

Ask at your local short oval track. I know they use Birmingham Wheels (or somewhere around the track) for drifting.

Try IncaRace: http://www.incarace.co.uk/
or spedeworth: http://www.spedeworth.co.uk/

Also... Have you seen the bit in the latest PPC on drifting a volvo 340? I haven't got round to reading it yet as it only arrived yesterday smile

I have a car I used to use for the drift days at Oulton Park that was great fun - it's sat around doing nothing so I'd sell it for a modest price wink. BMW 535i Sport manual with LSD. I was the only one except an instructor who could do an entire lap with one hand out the window biggrin I'm just too busy with work and racing to find the time to do any more days.

Turn up in that car and people are going to expect you to be good.

It's sort of like striding through the car park at the Ring with a Momo race suit on.

Whereas you could turn up in my BM and impress everyone - and for only £350 too!!

Try pasting the link into IE or go to www.monsterevo.co.uk then select from lists according to original link layout.

I have never really understood why a car would need spoilers and wings for drifting, when hopefully most of the time the car is slab side on when "Cutting" through the air.
My CSL does just fine with only a slippy diff and plenty of power.

Maybe I'm just too old for the "The daft and the spurious" generation.
(BTW. Where do the get there 25 speed gearboxes from in that movie???........Not that I've ever watched it of course)

well i know a chap who actually competes in the D1GP ( he's at silverstone this weekend ) and they have problems with lack of grip!!

so i guess they serve some purpose?

i also believe the ones pointed out were more track orientated but with very good drift capabilities.

i never bother with the F&F stuff either, but if its on ( again and again and again!!! ) then i do watch it for comedy effect!!
