Hi all,

I'm off to watch some racing at Spa later this year and will calling in at The Ring for the first time "on the way home". We'll be staying in Liege after the racing on Sunday and heading to The Ring on Monday for the 17.15-19.30 session. As we've got all day to do the relatively short drive to The Ring does anyone have any suggestions on "scenic" routes, places of interest to stop on the way, lunch venues etc?

Cheers, Longers

E42 south from Liege

Follow the directions on here http://www.justgofaster.com/Wiki/tabid/70/topic/ge... to Nurburg.

The Nurburgring museum is always worth a visit.

If you have more time, you are only 25km from Cochem, a beautiful wee town on the Mosel with loads of dining places.

I would agree with DocJoc... Cochem is a beautiful place to chill and have a bit of lunch and you may even find some other equally nice places around that area.

The Museum is a must if this is your first time to the Ring also.

I would have suggested Koln also but reckon you would need an overnighter for that and parking is a nightmare.

Also, if you were really feeling energetic... get on a pushbike (hire from Adenau Forst) and cycle round the ring.. I understand some people do do that confused

That Prum route is my favourite. I think Ben Lovejoy's route via Eupen is marginally shorter but the roads are nowhere near as good.

I can confirm that via Cochem is a good one.

Are you going straight home after the evening session ?? If not go back via Trier (the oldest city in Europe (apparantly!!)) but its worth a visit. The folks at the hotel near the ring recommened it as an alternate route back.

Looks like a great trip in Oct! We're going for the LMES over weekend of 18&19th August. However if I can find enough brownie points the Oct trip might be a possibility.....
