Hi,
I've been tasked with sourcing a 40th birthday "driving experience" treat for a mate by his better half and I'm going along too (apparently) and so I'm looking for some recommendations based on actual experiences...

I've been on the Palmersport Days and they to me are the ultimate day out - where you are encouraged, and taught how, to drive upto your own limits - but unfortunately out of the question budget wise - really looking for something upto a max £450ish for a day.

I've also been on experiences at the other end of the scale where it is more like "driving for grannies" where early up-changes and early braking are the order of the day... and so would like to avoid those.

So I'm looking for him to get a proper experience of driving a car fast on track or stage (but within his limits - quick, but he has no track or rallying experience) obviously with some in car tuition etc..

Any thoughts ?

with the exception of jp days which are great but expensive, experience days are extremely lame. far better to hire a caterham, share with your freind and do a trackday with goldtrack or BAT. http://bookatrack.com/-pb?54
cheaper than an 'experience' and 10x as much track time.

I cannot recommend the Topcats Racing experience days enough. A proper race car on a proper race track, and none of this "slow down" nonsense. Slightly over budget at £550+VAT, but worth every penny, IME.
