Slicks and Wings
You've done track days, what next? Try a single seater. PH reader Adrian Rose did just that and tells us how it went.
Discussion
Great, but learn the circuit first in a car you know. Absolutely fundamental basic vital start-point is circuit confidence, and this isn't achieved in ten minutes, particularly where there are blind sweepers.
My first single-seater drive was in a short-wheelbase Ferrari, and I managed to swop ends in the 'paddock' to my infinite embarrassment.
It IS a different ball-game, but so rewarding that you will become an instant addict. Everyone here owes it to themselves to have a go if they possibly can!

McNab:
Totally agree with you.
What Adrian didn't mention is that he and I (the fellow in the white overalls) have both done several days at Donny in our road cars. I think I would have hated it without that circuit knowledge. (Donny was Plan B - Plan A was to use a nice simple airfield.) I would now be quite happy to drive the same car at an unfamiliar circuit (within reason!).
I guess this is one good reason for the way the Big Name Circuit driving schools send punters out in sensible cars first.
Cheers,
Matt

Great review - I'm pretty jealous of you guys. Something that isn't mentioned is the cost ?

Thanks Matt,
I had temporarily erased the cost from my memory ;-)
I've tried single seaters at Thruxton and was very impressed by the pin sharp handling and the raw power despite the car being rev-limited to 4500rpm. That day cost £120 and I got 6 laps in the single seater (but a few other things as well). So you're right, your deal is reasonable (but not cheap !)
BTW, Steve and Bruce's Ariel Atom gives a not dissimilar experience but with 2 seats.
