We're got our first go at Rockingham on Sunday. Is anyone else going?

I hear the weather isn't supposed to be great but we're really looking forward to it.

We were there to in the red radical, weather turned out fine in the end and the standard of driving was very good, not to many red flags.

I was there too in the dark blue Locost R1 with the cut away side panels that was rather noisy (silencer is on its last legs!). Had a really good day as well, almost perfect had it not been for my throttle cable breaking late in the day which caused one of the stoppages (sorry!).

We were parked next to the Orange 997 GT3 RS which was absolutely gorgeous, definitely a dream track car that!

Tony, I see from your profile you have two Prosports, which one were you driving yesterday?

cheers

Chris

Hi Chris,
Profile needs updating then ! the one we were in at rockinham was the standard 1300 hayabusa powered prosport and the other one I sold not long ago had a supercharged hayabusa in it. God, that thing put a new meaning on the word "FAST".
Tony.

That your red missile? Those things are quick. I was with the S2000's. I imagine everything seems slow compared to your missile.

They are quick, no mistake, good collection of s2000"s on the day. We only had the afternoon on track to run our rebuilt engine in as my son is racing it at castle coombe on the 28th ( bank hol monday)

First vid of the day uploaded to Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5bwFKPooyg

I've got quite a bit of footage so will try and upload anything I have with others on here in shot too, including the bit where my throttle cable broke, I think just after overtaking Joanna (LadyRuston) in the green MR2 which was bit scary as it happened on the only semi-blind corner on the track, the long sweeping lefthander about half way round before the hairpin at the back of the paddock.

Thanks for uploading the video! I hope you didn't catch my little episode - I carried too much speed into one of the sharper corners and did a nice 180 - luckily it wasn't anything serious so the session wasn't disrupted, though I think I may have spooked some of the Honda's behind me when I ended up facing them!

I'm take it that different track day providers have different rules on when you have a spin. From previous track days I had thought you were supposed to report in when you have spins... the BAT marshalls were just amused when I came straight back in to report.

Nah there's no need to report a spin, 9 times out of 10 one of the marshalls will see it so if they think you're driving badly they'll report back anyway and someone will have a quiet word.

Yeah, a spin that you clear quickly is fine. repeated spins will attract their attention. But that's a rarity in the dry.

Hi all

Ive now uploaded most of my footage from the day

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=1FA9F8D073...

Here's a couple of particular ones I noted down:

"Session 3 (Part1)" was following the gorgeous bright orange 997 GT3 RS for a few laps
"Session 3 (Part2)" has a nice little shot of tonyf's Radical coming up behind me (before it disappears again!) at ~2m20s
"Session 5" has a bit of LadyRuston in right at the end (when my throttle cable snapped!)

If anyone wants the originals or would like some shorter snippets just of their cars then let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Chris

I think that's me in the dark blue S2000 about midway through the first part of the first session. Just before you come across the yellow S then a ginetta style thing.

Ah OK, IIRC that was the session that everyone seemed to be following line astern thinking it was still sighting laps for about 3 laps before realising it wasnt!

I knew it wasn't sighting, but no-one seemed to want to get out of the way. The problem was the S's were all driven to varying degrees of speed and you tend to get tarred with the same brush.
