"King of the Ring"

Helmut Zerlett and the singer of the band Reamonn, Ray Garvey, recorded the official Nürburgring song.

Now the Nürburgring also has its official song on CD.

don't think it's available as a record though

I doubt he would have the patience for TF, although he does pilot the 'ring taxi from time to time.

54?

Pah! How about 65 (give or take a few). And that included the GP track as well

ETA: Damn, I miscalculated - it's more like 36 - You are still the king!

Wasn't me. A friend who I was actually feeling sorry for at the time as I thought he was stuck in Belguim on business. Turns out he was on the track the whole time. No wonder I didn't see him in the car park.

54 laps, 13 miles per lap is 702 miles in a day.

As it's a 120d, and it managed 54 laps therefore it can't be doing quicker than 10 minute laps. That's 540 minutes or 9 hours. On a TF day that is improbable, with closures, etc. Also you're going to have to stop to refill with diesel, toilet stops, barrier queues. And no brakes by the end of that either.

If it's true, my complete respect. But that is just so unlikely.

Manthey Racing has that rather licked. 151 laps in the 2006 24hrs race.

Yes but... how many drivers were there? You can only really count 1/3 of the total number of laps and then divide them by the number of drivers... so mateys mate is probably well up on that...

The King of the Ring song sounds well scary... visions of white socks, mullets, Saxon T shirts and clogs are filling my mind.

(But it was a rental so you've got to account for the superior handling and brakes)
