205GTi (1.6) adequate
Discussion
Been offered the above car for £50 via F-in-L who works in a garage.
Already have a lightweight car trailer and tow car (Cit. BX TD).
Tempted to buy (maybe with a mate), service (couple of hundred max?), rip the interior out, and then just tow the thing to track days for a thrash. Hopefully then tow it home again
Wouldn't need to bother with Tax, insurance, MOT etc.
Two questions:
1) Would the 1.6 GTI be quick enough not to 'get in the way'? I am sure I will be the limiting factor, rather than the car, but you know what I mean?
2) Do trackday organisers insist on the cars at least starting off road legal ie with MOT?
Cheers, Phil
EDIT: arse - there was meant to be a question mark in the thread title. And again 'cos I am just frickin useless on Friday afternoons.

Why don't you do what I am doing at the moment and prepare it for the Stock Hatch Series and have ago at proper racing?
You have to use a 1.6 and the total mods needed if you do the work yourself come to about a thousand. You've got the car and trailer so your half way ready now.
You know you want to
Edited to say:- they are racing at Donnington on Saturday (tomorrow)and you are right near there, have a look.
