Anyone know if there is any noise limits at the ring as we are off there in july. I will be ok in a exige s but my mates are concerned for there cars. 1 has a ferrari 360 cs which is about 118Db and the other is in a murcielago roadster with a sports exhaust which is 130 + Dbs? Anyone shed any light?

The quoted limit is 95 with 5 dB of discretion.
It depends on whether you're there on a day when they're inclined to test. It also depends on how one comports oneself in the car park, at the barrier and whilst leaving the coned section.
Both cars would be in serious jeopardy of being pulled, and, if they're there on the wrong day, they will be pulled.

On Sunday last weekend there didn't seem to be any noise testing but on the Monday they booted quite a few cars off. A loud clio cup car deserved to go but I was pretty surprised to see a nice old guy in a fairly quiet 80s 911 turbo get turned away as it looked and sounded pretty quiet to me.

We had some serious issues when we were there a few weeks ago and we were being pretty careful in the car park and not revving it etc. However even tickling up to the barrier I was hoiked over to the side, given a quick measure and told it was "all over for me". I did manage to get on at the small entrance at Adenau however, you can get a lap and a half ticket there, you do the remainder of one and then rejoin for another full lap at the barriers on track on the main straight (least you could the day were there, but I hear they are not always in place so don't hold me to it) then just be careful till out of sight. They also seemed to all but disappear later in the day and most of our lot were able to get on pretty much unquestioned after about 4pm anyway.

Mine was measured at 116db by the marshalls but I think they just bunged it right next to the pipe - it certainly came out at less using our own meter in the car park and using the 1m at 45degree rule, mine then came in at 108db. Basically prepare for some grief.

Why risk it?

Drive all that way to not get a lap?

Or...if you try and get around it, then you run the risk off pissing people off.

If you turn up with cars which produce 116 and 130db's then prepare to not be allowed to drive. Take a bung with you else it will have been a wasted journey.

Just don't rev it in the car park, although it is tempting.

The marshals do conduct testing, both targeted and random – it’s the chance you take.

There is an “unofficial” limit of about 100dB however the bottom line remains at “officially” 95dB.

Most people only get tested by doing something silly, like said before, don’t rev your engine and keep your revs low when passing through the barrier… Wait until the bridge before hooning

Even if you only get one lap in (and I am sure you will get more in than that) is has got to be worth it

Took the cerb there a few weeks ago and got on no problem saturday evening and sunday 1st thing, but mid morning was told to 'go away and come back in 2 hours'. Fitted track silencers for a few laps and once the testers went for dinner took them off again They didn't seem to do as much testing on the sunday afternoon.
