Colerne is leagues better than Abingdon, a longer circuit, with a fantastic flat out fourth gear left hander some good breaking zones, also there is a fast (3rd/4th gear right left right left) which is pretty challenging. Go, you'll enjoy it.

You will enjoy Colerne , especially if it is wet. Book early as it is popular

Colerne is fantastic, best airfield venue i've driven. it has a proper 'circuit' feel to it and some excellent quick corners.

I'd been considering doing Abingdon again as it's only a few miles from me, but thanks to this thread I've decided to give Colerne a try. All booked up for the 21st.

I'm booked at Colerne on the 30th June. After all the feedback it looks like it's going to be a good day.

Although I've known of PistonHeads for a while, I've never subscribed....

However, a quick search on 'Colerne Trackday' turned up this thread.

Just to say, I'll see you there tomorrow.

Look for an Alfa 75 in kitchen appliance white.

What a cracking day! I completely forgot to check the thread and take note of the PHers cars that would be there - sorry if I didn't come and say hello. It was a great track layout I thought and an amazing array of cars - everything from a (hope I won't offend by saying) tatty Mk1 Golf running on slicks to a Shelby Daytona Coupe (stunningly beautiful)!

I was in the standard RX8 and am just importing the video I took onto my computer. I'm still grinning from ear to ear just watching it.

As for Colerne V Abingdon - it's about 6 months since I did Abingdon so memories have faded somewhat, but I think I'd say I prefer Colerne. Despite Abingdon being 10 minutes drive from home and Colerne being a couple of hours I'll definitely be doing Colerne again. Soon.

Excellent day - The Mk1 Golf was a friend of mine, who is a confirmed nutcase! amongst my favourites where the white Alfa, and chasing JSS 911 - sorry I didn't come over and say hello. Great circuit.

I remember watching the RX8 chasing me down - saw you looking a bit crossed up coming out of the 2nd gear hairpin. Hopefully some of your video footage shows me getting it out of shape, too...... my video was rubbish, mainly due to getting the helmetcam at the wrong angle.

Can you get the video clips online? - would be very interested in seeing them.

If you don't have anywhere to put them, mail me 'cos I have a lot of spare webspace (gigabytes of the stuff floating around unused)

Mine are at: http://www.italiancar.co.uk/Colerne

(almost completely worthless, though.....)

I was looking at the Clio in the paddock area, but you weren't around.

I just need to sort out my brakes now - looks like I might get another couple of days out of the rear tyres, despite my hooligan antics out of the tighter corners smile

Must admit, the footage isn't all that great. It was my first play with the new bullet cam - I'm missing a grub screw to hold the lens in place and I need it, the vibration has let the focus drift over time. I'll see if I can pull out any bits with your Alfa in shot and upload it. Might take me a while to get to grips with iMovie though (are you getting the impression it might not be all that good a video? biggrin)

The question is - will anyone believe me that I was intentionally hanging the back out coming out of the hairpin? Although I must admit that at one point chasing down the RX8 PZ it went a *touch* further than planned yikes

That would be fantastic - the professional photographer totally failed to get any shots of me being 'a bit silly', which is disappointing.

One thing I'd like to know, though..... were my antics coming out of the hairpin as spectacular as they looked in my mirrors? - I could see lots of smoke behind me and it did feel a bit 'oooops' at the time.....

JSS911 - Weren't you the Porsche sat next to me in the 'paddock' at one point? - Certainly one Porker owner had a chat with me, anyway.

I know you weren't the Porsche holding me up for 3 laps, though..... mad

Yep that was me . I see the overheating did not spoil your day as you were gunning it around the track later . So the clio with the number 10 that was going round very well was that you shatner . Yes the silver 997 i said to the girlfriend women should stick to netball and got a good slap for that
