Discussion
OK not your usual topic of:
Should I wear a helmet, or can I draw on the tarmac, or is my dog allowed to ride in the car with me?
Has anyone run the ring?
Fergus and I decided to venture round the circuit whilst one of the races was running....(I say running it looked very boring!)....Ferg was hell bent on cycling round the place, so hired a bike from Sport Am Ring...very reasonable prices! But I decided for some silly reason to run with him. A few stops along the way to watch some of the very slow cars, but an overall time of 2:11.
Its only when you start doing silly things that you realise just how steep the damn thing is in places!! The GPS confirmed this with over 1000ft incline, great map of the ring now!
When I go back in June, I'm going to do it again, but this time try and break the 2hr mark!

Always fancied hitting it in the early hours of the morning with a GoPed.
I walked a full circuit of it on New Years Day a few years ago. Took bleedin' ages, but it successfully saw off a monster hangover.
Whilst halfway round on the Dottinger Hohe I found a rather large piece of carbon rear wing behind the armco. Possibly off a Viper or RSR, as its chord is a good 30cm deep. Customs officials at Bonn airport were rather curious, but after x-raying it a few times they let me keep it as hand luggage.

I walked it one January summers day.....took a nice 6 hours of leisurely strolling and photographing each bend. Ran out of space on my camera so walked back along the corner the next day.....then decided to walk the other way round which took just over 4 hours
I then needed 4 days for my feet to recover!

cheers Jon!
I can wholly recommend doing this. Despite coughing up half a lung due to lack of fitness, it gives you a real appreciation of several corners on the track from an angle you wouldn't normally see them from (unless you'd bounced off the armco and stopped on the opposite side of the track!)
