Taking my TDi Golf for a pootle around Brands Hatch on the 2nd May and hoping it won't be too slow.

Anyone else track a diesal car and if so, how do you get on?

Should be interesting to see what MPG I get

A lot of cars that lap the nurburgring are diesel golfs. It's not what you've got, it's what you do with it.

I'd go round it on my pushbike, it looks brilliant. One day (although probably not on my pushbike ).

best thing to do with it would be take your tractor engined motor and head for the fields.

nothing worse than seeing some smoking stinking rattling truck engined car on a track.

Agggh noooooooo

very briefly tracked a diesel Mk4 130pd Golf ages back, decnet suspension (you really dont want stock mk4 suspension on track utter utter w@nk) & chipped & on road not a slouch 45mpg & near hot hatch pace, but on track agggh just so frustrating.

Its pretty much up there with being a kid & getting a christmas kiss from you old great Aunt with the facial hair problems for fun, sure some may like it, but then they are quite odd people to be fair

laugh I'll apologise now then for belching in yer face! However, funds have been handed over so lets see how many scooby snacks the tractor can eat?

Just got back from tracking my Golf GT 170 at Brands Hatch and am pleased to report that it held it's diesal end up very well!

The brakes stayed good throughout the sessions despite the dics going decidedly blue!

The ownly downside was the narrow power band, when the turbo kicks in it took a bit of practices to stop the understeer pushing the car wide.

Good fun though and the added bonus of seeing a Carrera GT at full chat.
