I have a Porsche 928 with an auto box. It goes, stops and corners rather well, and I'd like to learn how to drive it more rapidly, smoothly and safely.

Could you guys recommend a track day/performance driving course that would be suitable? I'm in Harrow, North London.

I've been eyeing up the North Weald days... not sure if that would do it.

Possibly a bit far to go, and seems pricey.

I've already done some safe/rapid driving on road or simulated road circuits, and have a decent understanding of understeer, oversteer, emergency braking, handling on ice and mixed surfaces and so on.

Now I want to go fast, on a track, and explore the limits of my car in stock form on road tyres.

A track day is a very good place to start, you can usually arrange to get tuition too, sometimes you can even get free tuition for short periods.

If you are completely new to this and want somebody to organise it for you and provide full time tuition on the day, the Topcats race team are not far from you and do this sort of thing. Having tuition all day will bump up the price considerably, but you get what you pay for. The Topcats instructors really are very good at what they do.
