just looking through Lidls offers.. and they have this in now: www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20070308.p.Full_Face_Motorcycling_Helmet.ar7

conforms to ECE 22-05 apparently... but would it still be accepted on trackdays or are most operators switching over to following the blue book requirements of things like BS 6658-85 Type A?

Sorry, but I wouldn't trust my head in a 25 quid helmet!

agree whole heartedly. never skimp on a lid. How much do you spend on tyres, oil, fuel per annum?

All new helmets sold in the Uk now only have to comply with the ECE standards. The old british standard type a and type b are no longer in use.The ece standard is however, a lower quality than the old british one.

Also, the age old saying, if you've a 10 bob head, wear a 10 bob hat.........

Personally I think it would be fine. It conforms to the standards to it'll be safe enough. The cheap aspect will show through the quality of the lining and fittings. You won't use it often enough on track days to worry about the lining falling apart and if you're in saloon you'll ditch the visor and not worry about the quality of ventilation designed to clear the visor. If you're in an open car where you'd use the visor I'd buy something better.

cheers chaps.

really - I've only done one track day and that was a free one that MSV put on for hte Marshals for the end of last year, and the thought was that at least if i get one, it means i know what the helmets history is, rather than borrowing one from the circuit.

was sorted when they only had 'small' left in the full face or medium in the open face...
