Just got a brochure from Everyman racing, hoping it would give me more info on whether there are any limits as to revs/speed etc.

There wasn't any info so gave them a call, all they could say was that there would be an instrustor with you and that if they thought you were going too fast they'd slow you down. I took that to mean going too fast in a dangrous corner/situation etc.

Has anyone been on one of these experiences? I'm looking to go on the Ferrari & Lambo experience but I want to be sure that there's no rev limit, so I can experience the acceleration fully and also no speed limit (other than the instructor knowing that you're going too fast into a corner etc.). If there are limits then I won't bother as I can't see the point of driving one of these cars otherwise. The alternative I was thinking of was hiring a Caterham for a day at Oulton/another circuit through Caterham themselves.

Has anyone got any feedback on this or other 'driving experiences'. This is a present to me from my wife from my 40th but she's asked me to investigate what's best.

Cheers

yep, did one couple of years ago at Mallory, bit disapointed with the limits they set, basicly made me short shift (high gears only) so as not to produce any unwanted wheel spin rolleyes good range of cars and a good day on the whole but dont expect to be able to ragg the cars, its definately no track day

did the ferrari experience really enjoyed it it is expensive for what you get though, especially if you've already got a real fast car or i guess if youvev a done proper track day. at almost £100 for about 15 minutes hiring a car for the day would work out much better value, theres hardly time to get used to the gerabox otherwise LOL

i paid the extra £60 for 3 laps in a 996 turbo, just to see if i would like the porker, never really liked 911's till that day

No better than a red letter day, hire a Caterham from BaT or track-club.com

Hi, I work for Everyman occasionally, and I can confirm that there are no rev limits or restriction on the speed that you drive, other than the fact that should your speed be greater than your ability, then the instructor will slow you down where necessary. On the other hand, some, not all, will help you get the best from the cars, and 120 - 130mph is not unusual on a good day.

I also work for www.bookatrack.com and pound for pound, you would have far better value hiring one of their Caterhams. It may cost more overall, but then you would have all day playing to your hearts content!!

Thanks all, probably will go for the Caterham, probably nearly as fast as the ferrari and as you say I'll get a lot more time with the car, I guess it'll probably feel a lot faster as well being fully open etc.

Thanks for helping me make my mind up.

We can offer you a day in a car, at a track of your choice, with one to one driver coaching, no limits, you can go as fast as the car and your talent will let you!

What budget does your wife have? We can offer you a Ginetta race car or Mini Cooper or we can hire in a Caterham, Atom, Radical but the price will go up.

You will not just get 3 laps in the car you will get 9am-5pm and we can provide you with an in-car DVD to take away as a gift from the day.

As we provide expert tuition you will not only have an experience but learn something as well.

Go to www.benelliottracing.com for more details or contact katie@benelliottracing.com for prices and dates.

Thanks

By comparison, www.bookatrack.com provide a far better day for your money, and remember Mr Elliott only hires space on the likes of bookatrack days, and you will receive proper instruction from experienced instructors, not trainees!!!
Thanks

I paid for my missus to do an Everyman day about 4years ago.

They used to do a day where you did a practice lap (as a passanger) in a Focus RS and then did 3laps in SL55 AMG, Viper RT10, Diablo, Exige, Noble...She didnt have any limits put on her even after dropping a wheel in to the dirt in the Diablo!! I think it was really good value at the time especially as we didnt have a track worthy car then.

The only thing that wasnt so good was that you didnt get to drive yourself in the Focus to learn the track, the first car she drove was the Exige but by the time her go came for the Noble and Diablo she already knew her way around but some other people were a bit miffed at driving the Diablo first as they didnt feel they got a real go in it.

I've done that experience [except the Exige was broken so they used an S2000]. I've done other experiences too, but that was one of the better ones. It works out a lot better value to drive more cars on the same day because then you don't spend half the experience just finding your way around the track.

The only car I've ever driven that had been restricted was a Formula Palmer Audi single-seater; They only revved to 4k rpm. All the road cars have been left unmodified for you to enjoy

Thanks for all the info., £700+ is more than we can afford with everything else this year and that seems to be a fair and realistic price to use a Caterham/similar for a full day. Had a look at the Caterham website and they have days for £400, but you get one session per hour (20 mins session I think).

So might go for that or more likely the Everyman experience, mainly so I get the chance to drive A Ferrari and Lambo at what sounds like as fast as I'm capable of, which for £250 sounds okay.

I'm doing a track day in my own car in March and want to do more during the year, perhaps in the long term might get a track day car rather than use my own pride and joy that's also used every day, so might go for a Caterham/7 replica or something in the long term, so probably will go for the everyman for now.

Thanks again.

Ginetta Joe-I,m not sure what you were applying when you send 'Trainees' but i,d like to point out that i have a Grade A instructors licence and have been coaching for 4 years i have also been racing for 7 years.

All instructors whether they work for Book a Track or us will be experienced and qualified otherwise the companies can not use them for insurance reasons.

Do you race in the Senior or Junior Ginetta Championship? I,m racing in the seniors again this year.

I have to say, I agree with ginettajoe on this one. I am involved in the industry to an extent and have heard some worrying things about some coaches that use this forum and indeed this thread.

Melindi, not usual for someone to be more catty than you is it?!!

I agree - it's actually quite boring and repetative reading the same post on every thread regarding trackdays.....

I'm also getting a bit cheesed off with the predictable self-promotion that seems to go on in here everytime someone asks a question about what driving experience, track day or car rental outfit is best.

If you are all paying PH to plug yourself and/or your company, then fair enough. But I thought that was usually made clear with the little £ sign at the beginning of the thread (like Sean Edwards' thread).

Can a moderator or Ted please explain how we know who can plug and who can't?
