I've booked myself (and my Caterham) into a SELOC trackday at Bedford Autodrome on Monday 5th May (on the GT circuit)

Thing is this will be my first trackday with my new powerspeed 4-2-1 exhaust and I'm a bit concerned about the noise limit.

Does anyone in the Fleet/Hants area have a noise meter I could borrow for 15 minutes. I'm quite happy to come around to your place and test it out (particularly if you have a grudge against your neighbours)

thanks,
Mike

First up... Bedford are really hot on noise. I got kicked off in my R500 (which reads 97-100 - depending on weather static @.5 metre @ 2/3 revs)

That's the bad news... the good news - in the dry warm air of spring your car will be a lot quieter - www.bookatrack.com will rent you a noise meter to check (although I think noise meters have a mind of their own) - the static test at Bedford is pretty easy to get through, but if you are marginal, just slow down on the straight after the first corner (where the 'fly by' mic is situated)

If you have real problems... get a new silencer from BTB exhausts (they have a website) My Seven is now less than 50% as loud.

Mike,

I've just ordered one from Maplin. I'm keen to get my Caterham on a trackday asap and have heard the Bookatrack meter is always overbooked.

I'm in Reading, so only about 30 mins from Fleet.

Ian.

Steve,

Yep thanks for the information, as mines 'only' a 1600 Superlight I'm assuming it'll be quieter than an R500 (I'm sure it should be).

Re. the BaT one they hire out, I was aware of them but know it's usually overbooked (I'm actually going to Flobenray with them in May but that's after Bedford).

Ian,

I'd really appreciate it if I could come over to your place and do the test there (or up the street somewhere).

When do you expect to recieve it?

thanks,
Mike.

Mike,

Just had an e-mail today from Maplin saying it had been posted by Royal Mail. I'd expect it with me tomorrow or Saturday.

I'm away at my folks until Monday so Mon evening might be the best time.

Ian.

Ian,

Thanks for the offer. As it happens I've been having a problem with the exhaust touching a chassis rail and have agreed with the manufacture to take it to them on Friday morning (Bank Holiday so that's pretty good service ) and they'll modify the offending primary pipe for me. They've also confirmed they have a noise meter so can carryout the test for me.

Again thanks for the offer.

cheers,
Mike
