I've given them a go and Trackday.uk.com is amazing value.

Well worth a try (especially for those wanting to get started in track days).

Liam, who runs the co', is a good bloke and will look after you.
Possible reason why its such good value is he is just getting the thing started.

I can vouch for the cars; one of the 205's he is renting out is my old car!

I don't have any personal experience of them but as with any track car hire:-

- check the public & product liability cover
- check there are proper maintenance records
- check that parts are lifed and replaced
- get at least 3 reports from people who have used them
- read all the small print and make sure you know exactly what you are liable for

All good points, but if you'd like to come back into the real world for 5 minutes what we are talking about here is hiring a 15 year old 205 Gti for £150 for the day. Cheap and chearfull fun is what it is.

Until you potentially have an accident due to the car, which you've entered into a legal contract to drive..... Nothing to do with the 'real world', Things like Melindi's list above protect both parties.

Caveat Emptor and all that.

OK, think of it in this way. What happens if something breaks on the car and causes a shunt or a bit falls off and goes through the windscreen of the car behind you, or any other possible problem which may not bother you but could affect other people there on the day?

It might be cheap fun for you but could end up being expensive or even cause injury to someone else and then you could be taken to court.

I'm not saying this organiser doesn't take all the correct precautions and doesn't have a good level of cover, it's just sensible to think about all eventualities so you don't end up regretting it later.

Im not suggesting these guys are doing anything of the sort, but as a company you cannot flout the law / regulations under the banner of "bargain basement", and you cannot assume that everyone will conclude that because it's cheap, its obvious that there won't be the correct procedures and insurances in place.

you cannot hire out a 205 Gti for £150 per day and cover your costs, let alone make any money. If Liam wants to see some real world figures from 2 years worth of hiring out 2-3 205 Gti's then he's welcome to see our accounts from when we used to run them.

Capital expenditure and crash damage aside, the Caterhams are significantly cheaper cars to run on-track than the Pugs.
