OK, not exactly a trackday question as such, but are there any garages at Silverstone (or other circuits) where a car could be stored?

Making a more track-focussed car is pretty easy these days but driving a stripped out, coilover-suspended track monster all the way from home to the track doesn't really appeal, and buying a Land Rover and trailer for the sole purpose of lugging it there doesn't sound too economical.

Any ideas?

yes, but they're relatively expensive compared to renting a council lock up near where you would have paid to store the car in a 'professional' facility. Note that there are massive differences in the quality of what is offered when storing cars - even when the storage rates are very similar between various companies.

I can recommend "autovault" over near stansted airport. very professional and very discreet. May be a bit much for a pure track car though?

Cheers, I'll check them out. I had a feeling it might be a comparatively costly option, but I've got no way to haul a track car around so I'd need to keep it somewhere near the track I'd use the most, if I ever actually build one.

Trailers can be hired and you do not necessarily need a truck to tow one. You would also not be limited to doing track days at one track!

What sort of car were you going to track? The towing weight for your Mondeo is listed as 1800KG so with a trailer at 400-500KG you still have a fair chunk to play with.

toltec - I did think about using the Mondeo but never thought it'd lug that much around, even being a diesel, so I never checked the towing figures out. Nice one! I'd be trying to get below the 1300-1400kg balance given there (stripped out E36 M3 possibly), so maybe that's one possibility.

iguana - Noted for future reference, as there may be another call for your services too. Cheers!

Remember you might want to get a spare set of wheels etc. on the trailer.

A mate and I are planning to get a trailer for our track car so I had looked into towing weights and was pleasantly surprised on what you could pull with an average car. I only googled for the figures on your Mondeo so naturally you should double check.
