Is that Mike Wilds in the Viper (yellow and black helmet)?

Stunning car. It's a GT3 racer, right?

yes Mike was there, he did a few laps in the viper as a passenger giving pointers (it was a GoldTrack event) The viper was a euro GT3 winning car, which is now owned by a PH'er as a private track/competition car (some info in the viper forum)

briefly chatted to the blue SV owner, he brought it recently to practice for the ginetta series he has entered, lucky guy also owns a Ford GT

I liked the Kellison. Every time they fired it up the whole of Race Control shook.

Proper!

The Viper looked really great, but did not seem to be being driven as fast as it could go. Is it based on the new shape Viper?

I was driving a Black M3 CSL there BTW.

Guy

PS My first Goldtrack day and I have to say it was an excellent day, on an excellent circuit. Only minor issue was the usual one of a couple of cars not pulling over for the faster cars (ie MX5 holding up the Viper and others on the straights!)

Hi Guy, the viper is lightly based on the latest strret car, standard engine so around 500hp, but lighter at 1500kgs it was the first ever drive for the new owner, so a gentle learning curve.

Nadine was carefully driving every other 30 min stint as confidence grew when i sat in we didnt get over taken in the afternoon, and seemed to be flying past everything

I did notice the beemer sticking to the vipers rear end before lunch, in the collection of a round 5 cars all huddled together

It's a wonder Nad even got near the car... Everytime I went past her garage there was a gaggle of men in heaven.

A bird... in a monster Viper... who does her own engine work. I think she's the perfect woman for all my clients. I'm just working out how to break it to her that she is worth more than rubies!!!

yes thats Nad, she's always in the garage tweaking her car. Her GTS is setup for the numerous different events she competes in not just airfields. For example last year Nad competed nearly every weekend in the better weather, IOM road race, various hill climbs, Brighton Speed trials, TOTB, several trackdays and days at Santapod, Woodbridge airfield, the full series of timeattack, a few drift days, etc....

I have only just clocked this thread, hence my slow reaction. The black Viper belongs to me. The pics Neil has posted are from the very first shake-down at Donnington. Nad and I had only just collected the car in Holland a few days earlier. The car performed very well, dispite not yet being set up properly. The huge brakes and excellent grip inspired confidence and I was enjoying lapping at a resonably fast pace with a car and circuit completely new to me. The Beemers were really well driven and very fast. Displayed perfect track day behavior, as distinct from a few others that day......

The Viper is gloriously loud (idles@109db) with straight-thru's but I sadly have to silence the growly voice a tad. Only a very few noisy track days available (Thanks,Goldtrack!).Janspeed are making a new exhaust that will not be too restrictive but takes the db down to max 103db @ 3/4 revs.

We're doing another Goldtrack day at Silverstone 7th March, hopefully with the suspension properly set up and corner weighted. Can't wait. Apart from quite a few track days, we are also using the car in hill climbs and sprints as an honourable GT40 in the GTD 40 car club's race series this season. Next season we might do something more serious with the big black Viper, but for now, we'll just get to know the car and enjoy it!
