I have some time to myself over the next 2 weeks and a build up in my track day fund account

but am at a loss of what to do for some track action, got around £1000 but obviously i dont have to blow the lot, dont mind taking the 4200 round but equaly up for hireing something different like an Atom or a Quck caterham, home grown track or drive to one abroad, Nurburgring still a bit iffy weather wise i think (or does the recent warm weather extend to the Green hell?) love Donington but done it quite a few times, always fancied Cadwell but never had an appropriate car (4200 bit to lardy i think)

Am totaly open to suggestions as its been a while and a bit rusty on where to look

Caterham Superlight for the day at Cadwell Park on the 11th Feb. £535 all inclusive at www.bookatrack.com. Even leaves you enough change for some booze and hookers - far better use of your money than track days and much less addictive.

did have a quick look at your days Jonny (not been on one of yours for a year now eek) but the superlight R lacks enough grunt IMO, so would have to be the R400 but that £2500 deposit eek I just cant justify.

Hope all is going well thumbup

Never been there, but from what i remember of BSB its quite a fast open track which would probably suit my car better, who did you attend with? any recomendations?

Have always found motorsport vision to be a well run day.usually well attended with drivers of varying abilities.Driving standards are good and it`s all nice and relaxed. It`s a great circuit to drive though parts of it can be tricky( druids ) if it rains.Best to book an instuctor to show you the lines etc..Money well spent.

our standard cars are superlights (no R, about 135bhp) and we're getting an R400 (cosworth duratec, about 210bhp) in April. quite a few people get the superlights and superlight R's mixed up - I blame the "SUPERLIGHT" race series that used to run SLR's - all very confusing.

What's the likely cost for a day at Donnington for example?

now i've started looking around a bit there is actualy a few companies in the oily pages section of PH that hire out track day cars, topcats do a Tuscan race car for not to much, so looking at maybe getting one of these to a track.

Donington on the 6th with Goldtrack looks tempting.

Thanks for your input anyway

list price for the R400 will be £995 plus the cost of the track day (usually around £200).

Goldtrack are running...

Snetterton tomorrow @ £150 150db
Donington National on Tuesday @ £175 Unrestricted noise
Silverstone Sat 17th @ £199 Noisy day

We could get a car to any of these events for you - more information at www.track-club.com but basically anything from £495 for a Clio right the way up to a Caterham CSR 260 (unfortunately the JP1 won't be quite ready ).

pvapour, yes you're right - but the R400 doesn't turn up until April so I didn't bother mentioning the Winter rates. I have my 200bhp eRise (honda elise) for hire at £695 if you're interested. Certainly a handful but great fun on the Nitron dampers. Just had an LSD fitted too so really looking forward to giving it a run.

Happy to do a half day in the eRise (60% cost) as I can share it the other half of the day then but we don't have any availability for the Caterhams left i'm afraid (except Donington on the 27th).

fergus, I realised you knew what you were on about - my post was for pvapour's clarification.

I had the CSR260 recently on track-clubs winter rates for £995, they got me a discount on the track day fee as well. Absolutely fantastic car, only thing that went past me was an SR3 Supersport. Great service as well.

I'm going to take up on both of your services guys but later on when the weather here has improved, for the time being i think i need a europe run & to get out of this country for some open road action, so going to check out the Ring next w/e, i know the weather could be dodgy but the run there will be fun anyway.

Thanks for all your information it will come in handy come Spring & Gnubee, would still love info on the Atom

Thanks, Nick
