OK - who's been to either / both the Silverstone and Chiswick stores ?

I'm off on Saturday to try on and purchase a helmet, and I have the choice of either trawling around the North Circular (30 miles nearer) or drive across a selection of fast sweeping A roads, demanding and exciting B roads, and maybe a bit of a motorway blast to Silverstone .

Is any store better stocked / bigger than the other ?

Cheers,

Andy.

Chiswick is a bit bigger store wise but the staff I've met are a bunch of numpties!

Silverstone store is run by racers so they know whats going on - loads of helmets too.

BUT - Ring ahead to make sure they've got what you are after as stock is flying at this time of year.

Just watch out for the forward facing scamera, just over the brow of the hill on the dual carriageway (A41?) about a mile or so before Silverstone....

Other than that, when i was getting kitted out, Silverstone were knowlegeable and helpful but the place was not very big and tucked away on the industrial estate.

Thanks for the suggestions - I think Silverstone it is. I'll give them a ring tomorrow. Thanks for the camera location - my Geodessy is playing up (I think the red led is broken so I can't tell if it's working or not - can't be bothered to wait for the 45 mins for the blue light to come on). I'll try that on Saturday as well!

Cheers,

Andy.

We've just been up to Chiswick tonight - only managed to buy a couple of £8 balaclavas, but tried on a load of lids and some boots. Very friendly (and patient) chap took us through all the different types of helmets and the differences.

Very useful to try all the lids on - but i'd recommend buying and putting on the little 'coolmax' balaclava whilst you're trying on the lids - makes the cheaper ones feel much nicer!

Thanks for all the replies. Tootled over to Silverstone on Saturday, very helpful staff, bought the first helmet I tried on (most comfortable of all that I tried).

btw If you are in the market for a helmet, and they haven't got one in stock, depending on the make it could take up to 6 weeks to get one, so plan ahead if you've got a track day booked!

Cheers,

Andy.

P.S. Thanks dontlift for the offer - I didn't like the Bieffe helmets as much as the Bell I bought, fitted better for me.
