I've just purchsed a used Elise and am looking to take some driver training prior to getting involved in track days. My budget is about 300GBP. There seems to be alot of choice and a wide range of prices, any advice feedback on specific days would be welcomed.

Just did an airfield based tuition day myself (Caterham and two mates in Tuscan's) with Andrew Walsh from 1stLotus.

I'd suggest this would be an ideal first introduction as Andrew specialises in Elise's and runs the days on nice wide airfield (did mine at North Weald just nothr of London).

Total cost was £142 each (3 of us) for Andrew's dedicated tuition - a bargain

Take a look at his site herewww.1stlotus.com

cheers,
Mike

Thanks Mike, I live in Essex so North Weald sounds like an ideal venue.

I was supposed to do this in the Griffith last Tuesday but due to mechanical failure had to withdraw.

The guys I was going with still went though and had a blinding day, really worth the money.

In the end they took an '03 Esprit, '02 Elise 111s and an old 5 Turbo ...

You won't regret it - I had one of the best driving days ever last week with Andy. There were 4 of us sharing the course and it was excellent!

Alun,

I was with Andy at N Weald last Monday, what speed did you do 'the corner' at?

My two mates in their Tuscan S' managed about 70mph, I managed 85mph quite confortably but found I needed to use the brakes if entering at 90mph+. Andy managed 105mph in with me as passenger in MY car

The highlight of the day was deliberately provoking lurid slides at 70mph+ in complete safety, worth every penny (even if I do need a respray now, and my new custom made polished stainless steel exhaust looks like it's been sand blasted - and don't even mention the state of my tyres )

Mike.

PS 58 seconds

I managed a 75 which for the first time I've ever thrashed the elise I though was pretty good - oh and Andy had the fire brigade out to dampen the corner for us too!

PS 58 seconds

58.7 for me and 50 for andy in my car!
