contrary to some peoples understanding brand new rubber or road tyres with loads of tread will not perform very well on a track day. The blocks overheat significantly and give way very easily, meaning loss of grip. So the less treat the better; of course you don’t want a bald tyre in the wet etc. Also as well as the blocks overheating and losing grip, they will wear significantly, a brand new tyre is possible to destroy in 1 track day depending on car weight, camber settings and tyre compound. So the best bet is to run a spare set of rims for the track day, that either has work road tyres or dedicated track rubber such as yokohama advans or toyo r888 etc.

You also want the tyre to be cured before you take it on the track. It will suffer increased wear and poor grip if you work it hard before it has been fully cured.

Thank's guy's

I've got a set on order so i'll get them put on after the trackday.
Any tips for Bedford? as this will be my first time there.

My Car; 05 987S Boxster, if that helps with any of the tips?

Lucky

1 Try and book some tuition, at least you will get a better idea of the lines.

2 Keep an eye on your mirrors and move over as a soon as you can when you see faster cars approaching

3 Start the day slowly and build up speed.

4 Be aggressive on the brakes and don't dwell on them too long if you want to avoid cooking the fluid

5 Have a cooling down lap before coming in for a break

6 Watch out for standing water on the longer straights - aquaplane risk

7 Enjoy yourself as it's about the safest track environment that you can find yourself on

8 Come over and say hello I'll be there in a black GT3 MK1 and will gladly take you around for a few sighting laps.
