Have come across a cheap 968 tiptronic for sale

Has anyone had any experience of these, would it be a nightmare at the nurburgring? may also do the odd trackday with it.

Will it hold a gear if you ask it to?, changing up mid corner could be disastrous at the ring.

Any expereiences would be much appreciated!!!!

Only on a 911 (996 shape). It was horrible, the delay between asking for a change and it happening totally ruined the experience. Avoid at all costs, unless you only have one leg.

My car (Audi A4 Tiptronic) suffers from this quite badly - oddly enough it's less of an issue on a circuit (where gear change points are pretty predictable) than it is on the road, you just tap the shift lever about a second before you want the gear! What's more of a PITA is that the lever goes the wrong way (forward for up, back for down) and 18 months after getting out of a Mercedes C-Class Coupe (with "sequentronic" sequential shift/auto clutch) I *still* go for the wrong gear sometimes...

Is it cheap enough to buy a used 6-speed 'box for £500 or so & have fitted?
