I'm going to Brands Hatch on Saturday with my eldest son who, having just celebrated his 14th birthday is now deemed old enough to sit in the passenger seat as we explore new worlds of understeer together in my Audi A4 quattro.

Anyone else?

For that matter does anyone else take their (older!) kids to track days? Matthew and I have been to quite a few race events this year and he's quite keen to see what a circuit looks like from the other side of the Armco - having seen the photos, heard the stories, and seen the Radical SR4 in-car video footage from the Autocar day I did last month I don't think I could keep him away :-)

Took my eldest daughter(15) and my dad(80) to Brands Indy in my GT3 back in August. Both loved it but confessed to feeling a little bit sick afterwards. I think they were particularly amazed at the cornering ability and the braking power of the car.

Matthew's survived loads of (sometimes quite spirited) trips on the back of my bikes, a bumpy flight in a friends microlight, and being repeatedly turned upside down in a light aircraft[1] so I'm confident of not having to clean the upholstery :-)

Got to start 'em on the path of rightousness while they're still young I reckon, although I may yet live to regret that as I've got to push quite hard to put in faster lap times than him in a Kart these days!

[1] Matthew and a couple of his mates from the ATC somehow blagged a joyride in a Scottish Aviation Bulldog belonging to a member of a formation display team when they were helping out at an air display at North Weald earlier on this year!

took my daughter from 16 who loved it and couldnt wait to get to driving...her first track day at 17 was ace fun! My 16 yr old son hates it even though he likes driving!

I've tended to share drives with my son ever since he got a road license -
but he doesn't own a car and his only driving experience has been on race tracks !!!

My daughter ( NO interest in cars) has driven just once at a VERY quiet winter Donington Track Day;
I'm not sure which squealing was louder - hers or the tyres at Old Hairpin yikes
