Hi All,

It's my dad's 60th next month and we're looking to buy him a race day experience as he's always wanted to do one and it seems like something a bit out of the ordinary.

I'm looking for recommendations really - we live in Hampshire and we're looking for somewhere relatively close - Thruxton seem do have quite a few good packages available, but are there any other places / comanies you can recommend?

TIA

Castle Combe do a race school, I plan on treating myself sometime!!
Can't think for the life of me where Hampshire is, but Combe is about an hour and a half from Thruxton in the Wales direction!

I'm in hampshire and made the trip to castle coombe for my 21st. I was one of the youngest there too, a fair amount of old guys, and that was on a formula ford package, I choose it for the maximum time on track as a lot of things give you 2-3laps, which trust me, goes quickly. I got 2 sessions of 6 laps in a formula ford, and brief training before in a focus, one of the best days of my life! it was great fun and I'd reccomend it, especially if its raining, more chance of spinning it like I did hehe

What he said. It ain't cheap, but it's worth every penny. A real racing car, slick tyres, roll cage & full harnesses & all, tuition from a real racing driver and none of this "slow done, be careful, rev limited" nonsense that seems to be commonplace with experience days - they want you to go faster. Excellent stuff!

I reccomend the Lotus Exige Expierance or the Audi RS4 expierance at Silverstone. As long as you ask for me as an instructor, then I will get your dad to push on a bit

It depends what instructor you get, the youger ones like me normally don't hold a customer back, but the older ones do sometimes.

Those 2 expierances are great, I reccomend the Exige one as a first choice, your dad will love it. Have a look at Silverstone website and if your interested I can probably get a discount or somthing.

e-mail me if you decide on it, info@seanedwards.eu or check www.seanedwards.eu

Hope that helps you.
