Hi all.

Can someone give me an idea of what range of prices I can expect to pay for a helmet? I am going to be in London for a few days in about a week and need to pick one up whilst I'm there - any good shops near the City or around the Kingston area? (Not interested in space-age materials and fancy design, just need it to do the job.)

Also are there any restrictions on open-face rally-style helmets on track days in the UK?

Thanks,

Harris

Grand Prix Racewear near Chiswick will have a range of helmets to suit various pockets. I was on a track day at Silverstone yeasterday and quite a few drivers were using open face helmets. If driving an open top car, a full face helmet is preferrable, I think. If you were considering sprinting/hillclimbing/racing at a later date, your helmet would have to comply with MSA standards. Some track day organisers are beginning to insist on MSA approved helmets so it might be a good idea to buy one to these standards anyway. MSA approved he;mets start at around £75 and can go up to £400-£500 easily. Both Demon Tweeks and Grand Prix Racewear have a wide variety in their catelogues and they state clearly what standards these various helmets comply with.
