Yokohama A032R or A021R? At present I have the A021R's and am quite happy with them, but I've just come off the phone to Demon Tweeks who suggested that I may be better off with the A032R's as the compound is slightly softer and the tread depthis not full (only 5mm) The car is a hill climb and sprint car, doesn' see anything but sealed surfaces, but must remain in road legal trim to qualify for the championship. The car is occasionally used on the road and I'm more than alittle worried that the shallower tread depth will scrub out very quickly. Both tyres are the same price. What do you think?
I think it depends on the car. (tried both on a Caterham)
The soft compound 32 will get seriously sticky on dry track, and you notice a massive increase in grip. But in standing water it only does 'straight on' - and you'll have to be skilled (not like me) to keep it honest on a wet track.
But - as I say, I think the weight of the car will seriously alter the characteristics of these tyres.

I've gone for the A048R 175/60R13 which is as close to slick as a road legal tyre can be! Why? well because this is a hill climb and sprint car and the advantage that these tyres will give outwiegh the disadvantages. Screaming about in the wet is not my idea of fun, so I plan to keep that sort of activity to a minimum, but the extra grip afforded by the A048R's in the dry will be a hoot!
