Trackdayers to get tyre support
Easytrack brings tech help to track days
Track day company Easytrack has announced that it's bringing what it described as "professional race-style tyre support" to its track day events.
A deal has been struck with Service & Sport to provide fitting and balancing of tyres at Easytrack events -- but the added value is race-support style technical assistance.
"We won’t just stop at fitting and balancing, we’ll be able to tell owners and drivers how they, their cars and their tyres are all getting along, behaving and performing," said Jerry Freeman of S&S.
Jerry is a former Pirelli motorsport specialist with tens of thousands of motorsport support miles under his belt with some of the top names in racing.
"A tyre is more than just a circular lump of rubber. There are compounds, constructions and tread patterns to consider; different types of tyres suit different cars, and sometimes a driver’s driving style can affect the type of tyre he or she really needs.
"Weather and temperature are of course issues as well, and a slight adjustment in tyre pressure can completely alter the performance and handling of a car. It’s the experience of being able to ‘read’ a tyre that makes all the difference.
"Our plan is to be provide the best possible tyres for the job at the best price -- something our low overheads can help achieve -- but also to provide genuinely superior advice and support to track day drivers.
"We recognise that some trackdayers are out for some fun, but we also understand that some take it very seriously – just short of the focus that race drivers and race teams would apply."
Service & Sport will be able to provide virtually any shape, size or make of tyre for fitting at Easytrack events, providing they are pre-ordered in advance.
The S&S team will also take a stock of the most popular track day tyres from a variety of manufacturers to each Easytrack event.
Pre-event orders should be phoned through to 01942 237468.

That's all well and good, but are you then committed to buying the tyres you've ordered, even if you end up not needing them on the day?

If you don't need them, don't order them. I can appreciate an order of 'slicks' would be redundant on a rain effected day day but I expect they will have a policy to cover this pretty obvious problem. And given the nature of the announcement it really wasn't the time or place to start reeming off all the conditions of sale.
As the saying goes - 'If you have to ask, you can't afford it sir.'

Of if you have to ask speciifcation/details were lacking
Or, as I said in my post, that it really isn't relevant information at the launch anouncment.
Good idea to have tyre facilities on site during the trackday. Certainly more fun than taking the car to kikfit. What an excuse to do a track day though - 'Honey, I need to get new tyres on the car. I'm just off the Brands.' I wonder if they will be doing puncture repairs aswell.
