Just looking at insurance for my TVR (first ownership experience) and I've a very competitive quote which does not include track day cover.

As I do not expect to be doing meny days, but do hope to do some, are there any suggestions as to where I can obtain additional cover for these days with a reasonable premium?

Thanks

Lee

Competition Car Insurance.

Pay for a set level of cover, with a 15% excess, any value you choose. IIRC a couple of years ago £8k of cover was about £100. Don't know if it's gone up or down. Advised to cover c.75-80% of car's value.

Cheers Martin. I guess that means it'll be expensive for a new TVR then?

Hmmm. Maybe a re-think is in order here...

Probably. I don't know if it was a straight-line thing (i.e. £16k c.£200).

Yes it is. You MUST get Track Day cover included in your main insurance. CCI are prohibitively expensive for a new car worth the best part of £50K that you want to insure against being totalled.

A Manning and possibly Performance Marque should be able to get you cover that includes Track Days.

On my policy Porsche Club days are covered for free and I can cover any ATDO days run by other people for about £75 a go. Brilliant.

CCI cover to the same value would be costing me £500 a day!

Thanks Guys.

You're right Don, Manning can give me full track day cover for only £300 more than the quote that I was thinking of going for.

I guess I was naive in thinking that I could get cover track side for aout £60 - £80 per event; that would have been better for only 1 or 2 events a year.

However, as you you say I can't skimp when the car is over £40k. Looks like I'll be on the phone to Manning.
