Hi

Planning my first trip to the ring in the GT3 in July

Just wondering what the noise limit is and how well policed it is ?

Would be a shame to drive all that way just to be sent home !

TIA

It's 95dB, but I haven't seen anyone police it. I saw plenty of GT3's there on my trip as well.

I would think that taking it easy in the car park + before the barriers should see you right.

It is 95 decibels, and they do enforce it, although they generally allow up to 100. Best to err on the safe side just the same.

If your GT3 is stock you will have no problems.

A mate in a TVR Tuscan with Race cans on the back blipped his throttle a bit hard in the pits. They noise tested him although he only just touched the throttle and they let him on.

It seems like they need to be seen to doing something, but don't want to stop people. Just don't be a dick in the pits and you should be ok.

I was there in May, and a friend with a Cup exhaust in his GT3 got pulled.

But it was SERIOUSLY loud.

Normal should be fine.

The correct reply for this is:

"Achtung! Spitfire!"

The moral of the story is go with something which is legal on the track. If you are over the limit DO NOT sit in the car park reving the engine or do anything to draw attention to yourself. They tend to stop those who wheel spin out of the car park or sit blipping the throttle
