New course for track day addicts

Aims to improve technique and speed

Snetterton
Snetterton
MotorSport Vision has launched a new Advanced Driving Course aimed at track day drivers who want to improve their skills.

Based at Snetterton in Norfolk, these courses will run within MSV Club track days, as well as on an exclusive basis.

MSV’s Track day Co-ordinator, Alex Baker said: "Ask any successful racing driver or experienced track day driver and they will all tell you that training is the most important factor in learning how to drive at speed in a safe and controlled manner. Once mastered, the skills that drivers will learn on our advanced course will not only make them a better and more confident driver, but could also save them money, as learning to be super smooth and drive with mechanical sympathy will drastically reduce the wear and tear on their vehicle's consumables."

The course covers:

  • The basics - seating position, hand position, correct use of steering wheel, gear change/clutch use, heel and toe, correct use of throttle and brake
  • Vehicle dynamics - weight transfer, front and rear wheel drive techniques, controlling understeer and oversteer, left foot and cadence braking
  • Circuit driving techniques - lines and car positioning, track etiquette and observation skills
  • Car preparation - mechanical sympathy

The day includes:

  • Teas / coffees and bacon roll on arrival
  • Lunch with instructors
  • 1.5 hours one-to-one tuition in a Vauxhall VX220 Turbo
  • 1.5 hours advanced driving lessons in the classroom
  • 1.5 hours of one-to-one tuition in your own car
  • 1.5 hours of unlimited lapping in your own car.

Actually, it's quite reasonable. They 'only' want £375.

A trackday booking will be about £200, instruction fess will be another £200 minimum, plus £75 for the Hertz Ford Focus!

Aside from that, somebody has to pay for fuelling up JP's helicopter...
