Silverstone South Circuit or Snetterton - help
Discussion
I live near Silverstone and therfore have done the GP circuit a few times,
but IMO opinion you have to have a VERY fast car to really enjoy it (which I don't have). But I've never done the 'National' circuit as I don't reckon there's
enough to keep me interested.
I don't live near Snetterton but I wish I did, because when I have
made the journey to the middle of nowhere it's been well worth it,
I find it a really satisfying circuit.

I'd go to the one that's most convenient for you.
The South circuit is an interesting one at Silverstone. IIRC it isn't one of the configurations used for racing. In fact it is the bit of circuit that's left after you have used the National. The benefit of this (to Silverstone) is that they can have two tracks running simultaeneously.
The South circuit includes the Hangar straight, Stowe, Vale and Club if I've got this right. So you don't actually do Copse or Maggots/Becketts, Luffield, Abbey, Priory etc. They use the race school building next to the Stowe circuit (a small "training" circuit in the middle of Silverstone used only by the race school) as "race control".
An advantage of a big wide circuit with loads of run-off is that you can really have a go confident in the knowledge that there is room to fix a slide...
I've driven the South circuit. It was OK. I'd rather have been driving the GP one (which I have also done). Of course - this usually costs a LOT more!
Never driven Snetterton - although I've spectated there a couple of times.

I'd only be interested in Doing the GP circuit at Silverstone, which I have done in my Westfield. I have to disagree strongly with those who claim that you need a super fast car to enjoy the GP circuit. Silverstone GP was by far the best track day I have had so far: absolutely superb, and my 180 bhp Westy will only get up to about 120mph. I did it with LoT with a bunch of similarly powered elises and it was generally agreed that it was excellent. (Go visit their forum to seee what they have to say.) A truly thrilling circuit I'd strongly recommend if you get the chance. I'll be back on August 2nd, and can't wait.
Having said that, I'd choose Snetterton over the South circuit.

Ahem. There are also saloon car races, 2CVs and sprints on that circuit. It's a pretty dull circuit, though. Rumour has it that Silverstone are going to redevelop it.
