Bedford drive by noise tests
Discussion
I doubt you will be ok with your V8! Although I do not use my Griff 500 for track days I would not expect it to pass a noise test at Bedford. My trackday car is a Radical 1100 clubsport, from what I have been told I would not expect it to pass either! I assume you are refering to a drive by test? Bedford are very strict, have a look at the motorsport vision web site. In the terms and conditions section for Bedford, it spells out the rules about noise. They even go as far as saying cars like Caterfield's especialy with bike engines are unlikly to pass. Hope this helps!!
our caterham superlights are around 96-97dB static (4500rpm at ½m) and they passed the drive-by fine at Bedford.
my honda engined elise is 94dB static and was around 82dB drive-by at bedford.
obviously this is no guarantee you'll be OK as it depends on induction noise under load etc - but it's probably worth risking it.

There was a radical clubsport there recently - that didn't have any problems...

Dern - I was there on Monday (Keevil - sorry I didn't say hello) and your car was pretty tame on the noise front sounded great but not massively loud, euqually the Holden (V8) was not particulalry loud either but sounded fab.
Some of the elises and 4 cylinder caterhams and westfields where a lot louder - not the most scientific test I know.
You could of course look like a girl and drive a clio like me!! no noise issues there.

Subaru was grrreat - the other guy who was pushing hard was the old Audi Quatro and the 325 touring. We ended up parked next to two guys in a knackered alfa - we had a great laugh all day. Which I guess is the point!
I'm sure I have a bit of video somewhere on the tape with you in it - i'll try and dig it out. there is a crappy video (of us in the golf and clio) on the abingdon 26th thread which is another good airfield circuit.
Cheers

That subaru legacy came past me in the first session... I couldn't get the power down . Much better when it dried out though and I could get the sticky tyres on. Did you see those loons in the nissan silvia? They got it off ebay and spun it several times - no engine braking because it was an auto .

We can get our Radical SR3 Supersport through without problems unless it is a very cold day. After a new quieter airbox our CSR also passed fine. There are at least four different meters so the side that your exhaust exits on doesn't make any odds.
